Senior Sam Linares makes the Under Armour All-American Team for 2012.

A Hauppauge boys lacrosse player is one of 88 high school seniors to be named to the Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Team for 2012.

Sam Linares, a senior at Hauppauge High School, will be invited to Towson, M.D. in June to participate in the seventh annual Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Classic.

Linares has played for the Hauppauge boys lacrosse team for the past four years and is currently the leading Long Islander scorer with 100 points for the Eagles, who will host Westhampton in the first round of the Suffolk Division II playoffs on Friday.

Linares is a multi-time Scholar-Athlete award winner and has also played four years of soccer at Hauppauge.

Under Armour All-Americans are selected by a panel of lacrosse experts from Inside Lacrosse Magazine. The year-long selection process includes input from college and high school coaches from across the country as well as nominations from the public.

Linares will join other All-American Lacrosse players for a weekend-long event beginning June 28 and culminating with the Boys Classic game at 8 p.m. June 30. The game will be televised live on ESPN for the seventh year.
