Hauppauge residents couldn't guess this week's "Historical Where Was This Photo Taken," as the old parsonage of Hauppauge United Methodist Church.

Better luck next week guessing Hauppauge's historical photo of the week. Local history buff Christopher Crean even commented "Sara you stumped me this week."

The Hauppauge United Methodist Church was first formed in 1806 when its members met at the schoolhouse, then moving meetings to the home of Richard Wheeler. The church that stands today was not built until a few years later when Joshua Smith Jr., a descendant of Smithtown’s founder Richard Smythe, who donated a plot of ground.

After building the church, the congregation of the United Methodist Church build a separate parsonage as the living quarters for their pastor. The historical photo, pictured above, was identified as the "old parsonage" built in 1833, according to Maggie Blanck's website.
