Budgetary Issues

  • The Issue: The superintendent said recent figures estimated that Hauppauge School District, along with others on Long Island, may face increased  mandatory contribution to the teacher's retirement fund of 34 percent in 2012.
  • The Resolution: As the federal stimulus funds cease in 2010-2011 , the board decided it  needs to be kept in mind when looking at the 2011-2012 budget. Kriss said she hoped this figure will change by the time it becomes a budgetary factor.
