Hauppauge drivers have faced new challenges and traffic concerns as work on the Route 347 improvement project has shifted south, affecting the eastbound lanes this winter.

Construction workers finished up utility and drainage work in the center median by December 2011, shifting further south. Then, they installed a decorative pre-cast concrete median before moving work onto the shoulder of the eastbound lans.

The project has close down the shoulder of the road, which is marked by construction cones and signs. Driveways for local businesses and shopping centers are clearly marked, and often have temporary traffic signs in place.

They have been doing work next to the Capital One bank for the longest time. They added lanes to cross 347 and are still working on the area. Just wondering what they're doing next at that location!

Is there an aproximate completion date?
Hopefully soon, due to all the teenage drivers coming & going to the HS.
It can be scary in the morning and afternoon. I walk my dog in the am & i see so many near misses, especially with the younger drivers

Laura, I don't think there's much hope for a quick finish.
