READ: Hauppauge Genealogy History

Is your family in here?

Long Island Surnames – which runs LongIslandGenealogy.com – has posted a book that's nearly a century old detailing the history of Hauppauge.

"A History of Hauppauge, Long Island, N.Y. Together With Genealogies of the Following Families: Wheeler, Smith, Bull Smith, Byldenburgh, Wood, Rolph, Hubbs, Price, McCrone" was written by Simeon Wood and published in 1920.

While it delves into family histories, it provides plenty of history about the area itself, noting that a strict translation of the word "Hauppauge" – commonly translated as "Land of the Sweet Waters" – might actually be something else.
