Walk Radio Delivers 11,000 Pounds of Food to LI Cares

Radio station's food drive outside local King Kullen stores bring sin much needed donations for the holiday season.

Walk radio station delivered 11,000 pounds of donated food toin Hauppauge in time for Thanksgiving.

Walk 97.5 FM held a "Thanks for Giving Food Drive" outside of King Kullen storefronts across Suffolk County throughout the first two weeks of November. Radio station personalities asked shoppers to donate non-perishable foods, frozen turkeys and monetary donations for the less fortunate this holiday season.

On Nov. 17, Walk FM broadcasted live from outside the Commack King Kullen to wrap up its food drive. It then was able to deliver the more than 11,000 pounds of food raised throughout the food drive to LI Cares.

LI Cares estimated that the donation will be used to help feed 9,730 meals to the less fortunate this winter.
