Good morning, Hauppauge. Here's a look at what resident should know about today in town.

School Calendar Available
The first day of school is Sept. 9 and Homecoming is Oct. 19. Check out the school calendar for other important dates.

STAR Re-Registration Coming Up
Homeowners have to re-register for Basic STAR exemptions by Dec. 31.

The STAR program provides a partial exemption from school taxes for most homeowners with incomes less than $500,000 on their primary residences. The new registration process will not affect this year’s tax bills, nor will it affect Enhanced STAR. Seniors are required to register every year to receive the Enhanced STAR exemption. Comedy Fundraiser
Laugh for a cause this coming Sunday. Central Islip Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance is hosting a comedy show Aug. 25 at 2 p.m at McGuire's (1627 Smithtown Ave., Bohemia NY 11716). Doors open at noon - please arrive by 1:30 p.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets are $20.00 and all proceeds will go right to CIHVA directly. Farmers Market

Teachers Federal Credit Union hosts a farmers market every Thursday in its parking lot, located at 102 Motor Parkway from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Vendors sell locally grown produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, freshly-made crepes, seafood and more.
