Teens' Babysitting Workshop, Homes for Veterans and More Coming Today

Good morning, Hauppauge. Here's what your day looks like today:

- The Smithtown Youth Bureau will offer middle school students a free seminar on babysitting skills beginning today at the Horizons Building community room. It runs from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays between now and Nov. 5.

- In case you missed it, here's a story on the most recent travel lane closures on Route 347 in the Hauppauge area, which went into effect on Monday.

- Six veterans will have the chance of a lifetime today: They will be introduced as Islandia's newest residents in a subdivision marked as affordable housing for veterans to purchase homes for $199,000. Story to come on Patch.

- For Town of Islip residents, there will be a public town board meeting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall on Main Street in Islip.
