CA Technologies Hosts “Fill Your Backpack Day” For Local Kids

More than 40 CA Technologies employee volunteers recently hosted 50 children from Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club  at CA Technologies headquarters on Long Island for “Fill your Backpack Field Day.”

Kiddos participated in events including a soccer agility course, Frisbee toss, tennis bull’s-eye game and basketball free throws. Following each activity the youngsters were awarded school supplies for their participation.

“Having the kids earn their school supplies was a great way to teach them about working hard to achieve their goals,” said Lisa Brighton, Community Affairs Analyst.

Adding that, “The big smiles on everyone’s faces clearly indicated a great time was had by all.”

One youngster from Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club told Lisa that, “This day has helped me to cross off everything on my back to school supply list.”

In addition to the field day activities, the youngsters were able to spend some time with EVP & General Counsel, Amy F. Olli who spoke about the importance of playing hard but studying harder.  Before boarding the bus back to their club with fully stocked backpacks, the group participated in a lively game of dodge ball and took part in line dancing with volunteers!

CA Technologies employees contributed over 1000 pencils, 1500 crayons, 200 notebooks, 600 ballpoint pens, 3,000 index cards and 150 highlighters at the “Fill Your Backpack" event.
