HAUPPAUGE MATH EDUCATOR DAN CONCANNON NAMED NEW YORK STATE MASTER TEACHER

Hauppauge High School is proud to announce that Dan Concannon has been named a New York State Master Teacher. Concannon joins 215 educators statewide – 42 from Long Island – who have earned this distinction since the program launched in October 2013.

The Master Teachers Program focuses on teachers of science, technology, engineering and math – or STEM subjects. The program was established by Governor Andrew Cuomo to identify, reward and support master math and science teachers throughout New York State. State officials said that the newly named Master Teachers have a combined total of 2,700 years of teaching experience. Their subject areas of expertise include calculus, algebra, physics, earth science, chemistry, engineering design and development and genetics.

These educators will receive $60,000 in compensation from New York State for their efforts in the four-year-long program. They will be required to mentor their peers in the classroom, further develop their own expertise and enhance the overall learning experience of students for years to come.
