5 Events to Hit this Weekend

Gather up the family to run the Power of One 5k or support Hauppauge wrestling at their luncheon.

Looking for something to do this weekend? There are a host of family-friend events happening this weekend in Hauppauge. Get the family up off the couch for a run, or eat out to support local youth wrestling. Check out these five local events happening on Saturday and Sunday.

- Get your family up out of bed and off the couch early for Hauppauge's annual Power of One 5k and 1K Family Fun Run on Saturday. Registration the morning of the event costs $20 per individual, $30 per family from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at The race begins at 8:30 a.m. with prizes for the top finishers in each age group.

- If you've been interested in trying yoga but never gave it a chance, Whole Foods in Lake Grove will be hosting a free Hatha yoga class on Saturday at 11 a.m. Register by emailing ne.lakegroversvp@wholefoods.com.

- Take a family-friendly hike through Caleb Smith State Park on Sunday morning to enjoy the foilage led by the Long Island Greenbelt Conference. The hike will end with brownies to celebrate the hike leader's birthday.

- Join Hauppauge's wrestling family in kicking off the 2011-2012 season with a luncheon atfrom noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 6. Eagle wrestling alumni, varsity wrestlers and youth will come together to support local programs.
