#85 - Make a Splash at Hidden Pond Park

Town of Islip pools offers day passes for both residents and non-residents.

Hauppauge residents are looking for ways to stay cool this summer as the temperatures soar. A heat wave on Long Island is sending the heat index above 100 degrees.

One way to escape the heat is to jump in the car for a trip to the beach, taking a dip in the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean or Long Island Sound. What can you do for those looking to avoid long car trips due to rising gas prices? Splash into the pools of Hidden Pond Park.

The Town of Islip parks consists of three pools for different age groups and activities. There's a kiddy pool for young children who are still learning how to swim. For adults, there's a full-size Olympic swimming pool and a diving pool with two diving boards.

Hidden Pond Park offers both day passes for those looking to spend the afternoon poolside. The Town of Islip charges $5 per resident with recreational card, $7 for resident without a recreational card and $10 for non-residents. Seniors receive a discounted rate of $1.50 per day.

The pools are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Aug. 14, then reduce their hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Sept. 5. Amenities include locker rooms and a café.
