#86 - Camp Under the Stars at Blydenburgh County Park

Stay close to home while going on vacation, experience the great outdoors at Blydenburgh County Park.

Many local families are trading in the annual summer vacation for a staycation due to a lingering recession and high gas prices. Just because it's a staycation doesn't mean it has to be at home.

Families can experience sleeping under the stars by camping at Blydenburgh County Park off Veterans Highway. The 627-acres county park has 50 designated sites where families can pitch a tent, create a campfire and sleep under the stars.

Residents must have a Green Key from Suffolk County Parks Department to reserve a campsite through online or phone reservation systems. Reservations must be made at least a week in advance for a minimum of four nights from May 1 to Sept. 15. There are bathroom and shower facilities available.
