Dec. 7: Bowling, Board Meetings and How "Hop-Hog" Got Its Name

Tuesday mixes together the holidays, business and nostalgia on Patch.

3. Town of Smithtown will hold a special at Town Hall, 2 p.m. The agenda includes setting the schedule for 2011 Town Board meetings as well as winter recreational appointments.

4. What's in a name? Everyone knows you're not a local resident unless you pronounce Hauppauge as "Hop-hog" with stress on the first syllable.
