As temperatures reach 90 degrees, Hauppauge residents are getting their first taste of summer's heat. There are plenty of options to cool off your taste buds with ice cream, frozen yogurts, Italian ices and other summer favorites throughout Hauppauge.
Here's a list of five places to get a cold treat:
- This popular ice cream shop located on Veterans Highway offers a variety of ice cream, both hard and soft serve, sundaes, shakes and ice cream cakes. It's open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. Don't forget their flying saucers that put soft-serve ice cream between two cookie discs for a portable treat.
- This frozen yogurt shop open its doors at 385 Nesconset Highway just in time for summer. Head to the back of this self-serve store and grab a cup to create your own sweet confection out of 12 flavors and a topping bar. Adults can find health options here while the kids go crazy.
Branchinelli's - If you think Branchinelli's is only about pizza, think again. This popular Route 111 pizzeria sells flavorful Italian Ices any time of day. Step in and head towards the back of a counter, where a lit display case shows the flavors available each day.
- Known for serving up hot coffee, Starbucks gets into the summer swing by chilling down your favorite drinks. Order your favorite coffee flavor iced or, if you have a sweet tooth, order a frappuccino.
- This eatery on the corner of Route 347 and Route 111 is known for its bread and sandwiches, but it offers a number of cold and refreshing drinks. Stop by for a fruit smoothie or frozen drinks. Its strawberry lemonade has recently returned to its menu for the summer.
