More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the 2013 Gluten Free Vendor Fair and Expo in Hauppauge on April 27 and 28.
The fair caters to those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Gluten intolerance is on the rise. According to a report in USA today, nearly five times as many people have celiac disease today than did during the 1950s. It is now believed to affect one in every 133 Americans.
The Gluten Intolerance Group of Long Island is sponsoring the event, which is promised to be its biggest fair to date.
About 50 vendors will be at the fair offering a variety of gluten free foods, as well as products. Each attendee will also get a goody bag to take home.
Admission to the fair is $10. Those who attend on April 27, will get a $5 coupon to return the next day.
The fair will take place at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 25, 370 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, Hauppauge, NY 11788 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days.
