Grab & Go: Kids Planner: Hoops For Hunger, Scavenger Hunts, Sports Nights

Activities to keep your children busy around Hauppauge from March 2 - 8.

This week Hauppauge Patch has found a great selection of family-friendly events to enjoy with your children from March 2 - March 8. Pick and choose from a night of nature, fundraising basketball, sports night and more.

Where/When: Hauppauge High School; March 2 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Why Go: Hoops for Hunger is a great fundraising event sponsored by Hauppauge High School to raise money and gather food for Long Island Cares. The event will feature a night of basketball, raffles, a Chinese auction and dinner for sale by Gino's of Nesconset. 
Pricing: $3 or two canned food donations

Where/When: Smithtown's Sweetbriar Nature Center, March 4 from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Why Go: What better way to spend a Friday night than learning? A professional naturalist will showcase the center's nocturnal animals and lead a search across the grounds for owls. Families with children age 9 and up are welcome.
Pricing: $5 - $6 per person.

Where/When: Matt Giuliano's Play Like A Pro;  March 5 from 8 - 10 p.m.
Why Go: Sports Night gives kids ages 9-14 a chance to interact in a way that is not possible in a school setting. Live music will accompany dodgeball, kickball, soccer, batting, touch football, speed pitch and more. Adult supervision is provided.
Pricing: Free

Where/When: Nissequogue River State Park on March 5 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. 
Why Go: It's an opportunity to get the entire family outdoors and working together in the spirit of playful competition, utilizing their five senses on a scavenger hunt. 
Pricing: $4 per adult, $3 per child, $8 parking fee.  

Where/When: Hauppauge Public Library; March 7 at 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: Children are invited to a fun afternoon filled with the story of The Jolly Postman and crafts. Each attendee can design their own Jolly Postman book.
