Police Seek Man in Connection with Hauppauge Burglaries

Following a string of burglaries at the Hauppauge Industrial Park, police are searching for a man who was seen riding a bicycle around the area for questioning. The suspect is described as black, 40 years old and approximately six feet tall. Those who have approached him on the premises say the man said he was looking for a job.

Kennedy: Number of Homeless Students Likely to Remain the Same

As the debate over the placement of homeless students in the Hauppauge school district continues, Suffolk County Legis. John M. Kennedy Jr. addressed parents' concerns that the homeless shelter will flood the school district with more students by saying there probably won't be any more students coming in during this academic year. "I have good reason to believe that the number we’re seeing now is the number that will remain for the balance of the year," he said in an interview with Patch on Friday.

Sex Offender Registers Residence in Smithtown

The Hauppauge School District on Monday issued a letter to its residents informing them that a Level 1 sex offender, considered to be the lowest risk level, has taken up residence in the Smithtown area. For a convicted sex offender registered as Level 1, law enforcement agencies do not disclose the exact address of the person.

Fuel Company To Build Multi-Million Dollar Hauppauge Headquarters

OK Petroleum will soon be based in Hauppauge after the company announced plans to build new headquarters – for $6.6 million – on Commerce Drive, according to a report published by Newsday.
