Blind Man And His Dog Removed From Flight to MacArthur

A blind man and his guide dog were removed from a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to MacArthur Airport that was eventually entirely cancelled.

According to News 12 and ABCreports, Albert Rizzi, of Bellport, was ordered by a flight attendant to “stow” his guide dog Doxy under his seat on Nov. 13. Rizzi said in a video interview with News 12 that there was no place to stow his dog since there was no seat in front of him. He said the dog was instead placed at his feet.

Nesconset Man Seeks A Living Kidney Donor
You may not have met Nesconset resident Kevin Schnurr, but he needs a kidney, so "donate maybe?" 

Schnurr, 27, is searching for a living kidney donor after being diagnosed with Alport Syndrome, a rare genetic disease that results in kidney failure and hearing loss.  

He's started a Facebook page titledFind a Kidney for Kevin that puts a unique the catchy Carly Rae Jepsen song "Call Me Maybe?" that asks virtual strangers "Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, I need a kidney, donate maybe?" His aim is to find potential donors and raise awareness for others like him.

BBG's, Boulevard’s Sports Bar and Grill officially opened its doors on  Wednesday and will celebrate all throughout this weekend. The bar and grill is brand new, built by owner Jim Letizia, of Nesconset, along with general manager, Joe Spano.

Islandia Residents Likely to See Tax Hike

Residents of Islandia can expect a $22 month tax increase based on a recently approved tentative budget.

The Islandia village board approved the tentative $2.7 million budget, raising taxes 1.62 percent from 0.94 percent, according to a report on Newsday. The 72 percent increase pierces the stat tax cap limiting yearly increases.

Update: Robbery at Lake Grove TD Bank

A robbery took place at TD Bank in Lake Grove Monday. Detectives from the pattern crime unit are investigating.

According to police a man entered the bank, located at 2822 Middle Country Road, and handed a note to a teller demanding cash, which the teller gave him. The man then fled on foot and was seen heading west on Middle Country Road.

The robber is described as a six-foot tall white man in his mid-20’s. He is clean-shaven and was wearing a dark-colored suit and tie, sunglasses and a beige and brown striped ski hat.
