July 19: Teen Beach Party and Songs in the Attic

Celebrate the summer with one of two local events happening Tuesday night.

This Tuesday, Hauppauge families and their friends can celebrate the summer heat at one of two local events in true Long Island fashion. Hit the beach or sing-a-long to the tune's of the piano man, Billy Joel.

Here's our top five picks:

1. Gather around to hear a story, songs and crafts at at Barnes and Nobles in Lake Grove at 10 a.m. It's a fun and free activity for children of all ages.

2. Islip officials will hold a a at 6 p.m. at Islip Town Hall. The agenda includes discussion of accepting FEMA grant money for clean up work performed on Canterbury Drive in Hauppauge.

3. Teens are invited to a free at Sunken Meadow State Park from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., hosted by the Town of Smithtown, in a drug and alcohol-free atmosphere.

4. The continues with Songs in the Attic, a Billy Joel tribute band, at 7:30 p.m. at the Nesconset Gazebo on Smithtown Boulevard. Get there early, because the good seats go early.
