July 29: Storytime, Babysitting and Off the Hook Music

This Friday, children can enjoy storytime and crafts while adults kick off the weekend with a live performance by Off the Hook at Butterfields. Forecasters call for sunny skies this weekend, so be sure to check out Patch's calendar for local happenings.

1. Gather up the children ages 3 to 5 for at the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Special Library District starting at 11 a.m. Librarians will read a story outside underneath the gazebo.

2. Teens looking to earn extra money this summer can take a free offered by the Town of Smithtown at 2 p.m. Open to all middle school students, the class will teach about safety, first aid, nutrition and entertaining children. A certificate is awarded upon completion.

3. Jump start your weekend to the sounds of the 80's as performs at at 10 p.m. This rock 'n' roll band is sure to have the crowd dancing.

4. State Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will be hosting a women's economic empowerment roundtale in Hauppauge this afternoon. Find out what local business owners say are the most important local issues this afternoon on Patch.
