One of the issues that became obvious was the safety of Hauppauge's neighborhood streets. Parents openly questioned the safety of letting their children walk or bike to popular locations, from schools to pizzerias. In many communities, there are no sidewalks for the chidren to walk on.

The reconstruction of Route 347 includes plans to install a pedestrian lane on the southern edge of the roadway, connectiong local destinations. Do you believe it will be used, given the lack of sidewalks in the surrounding areas?
