Moms Talk: How Will School Budget Cuts Affect Your Family?

This week's question is: " What potential changes does Hauppauge Public School's draft $97 million budget mean for your family? What changes will you have to make? Will your son or daughter's programs be gone?" 

Hauppauge residents attended Tuesday night's Board of Education final meeting on the . The budget outlines several cuts  in teaching and staff positions, sports programs, co-curricular clubs and more.

One of the issues that came to light is the district's intent to eliminate the family services course, which provide a preschool like atmosphere for young children. Others voiced concern about the potentially increasing class sizes.

At previous meetings, parents have openly discussed concerns about the proposed plan to combine seventh and eighth-grade teams, fearing that the younger students may not make the cut or get as much playing time.
