Mom's Talk Q&A: Do You Monitor Your Child's Facebook

Moms Talk returns to Hauppauge Patch to discuss how to handle social networking among teens and children.

Mom's Talk returns this week on Hauppauge Patch to continue reaching out to local moms (and dads) and families as whole to address local issues.

This week's question is, " Do you monitor your child's Facebook page? What age should a child be allowed to have their own Facebook page? Is there an age that is too young? Also, Do you monitor what they post, or do you feel it violates trust bond between parent and child?"

This has been a frequent conversation topic within Hauppauge school district and parents across Long Island, as social networking sites give rise to issues about privacy, cyberbullying and public incidents about inappropriate pictures with heavy consequences.
