Nov. 11: It's Veterans Day

Thursday events honor military personnel for their service.

Thursday is Veterans Day. It's a day to honor those who have served in the United States military. Arbors Assisted Living residents will welcome home a soldier. A parade will fill the streets of Smithtown. Let Patch know how you intend to remember those who serve our nation by e-mailing sara-megan.walsh@patch.com

1.   The Arbors Assisted Living veterans will be welcoming home a returning soldier at 1 p.m. Patch will be there, with veterans' stories on their years in the service.

2. Smithtown Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Plaza starting at 1 p.m. Featured speakers will include New York State Sen. Mike Flanagan, Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick and Suffolk County Legis. John Kennedy Jr.

3. Take a moment to quietly remember those who served and those who have fallen at one of the 

4. As promised, Patch will have information on this year's  5k Family Fun Run and One Mile Run this Saturday. Find out what charity this year's event will benefit.
