Patch Picks: Five Local Summer Camps

Hauppauge and surrounding areas offer great choices in summer camps.

With mid-winter recess over, the beginning of warmer days leads to daydreams of summer.

Many local summer camps are beginning to schedule their open houses for parents and students to explore, and find a place to have fun, make memories and escape in their own backyard. 

 Here is a list of some camp suggestions in the area.

(Hauppauge) - The next open house for this camp will be March 12, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. This camp offers campers activities such as; martial arts, mini-golf, rock climbing, soccer, and even baseball. This camp includes lunch, snacks, and drinks. They also offer ice skating and instructional free swim. Click here for their website. 

 *Usdan (Wheatly Heights) – Usdan is a center for creative and performing arts. It offers  4-week or a 7-week day camp programs. The programs focus on art, dance, chess, music, theater, writing, and numerous other creative topics. Students put on concerts, shows, and even has a pool. *Suffolk Y JCC (Commack) -  This organization offers different camp setups for children, ages 3 to 16. Suffolk Y JCC offers a theater camp to help campers work on their talents. There is  a teen travel camp that takes kids all around the East Coast, exposing them to the importance of traveling. Then there is a summer camp aimed at tweens where they can swim, play sports, and socialize. Click here for their website. 

*Park Shore Country Day Camp (Dix Hills) -  This camp will be sure to keep your kids active. Located on 15 acres in Dix Hills, Park Shore Country Day Came puts  children into groups based on gender, grade, and age. Camp groups follow an organized schedule that include activities such as rock climbing, swimming, baseball, and more. Click here for their website. 

*Best Learning Center (Smithtown) – They offer three camp sessions, each one offering ages groups for infants to 12 yars of age. For younger children, the summer camp theme is "Wild About Animals," a wild safari adventure taking them around the world. For children ages 7-12, Camp Survivor offers challenging games and new experiences. ll children get a free T-shirt and water bottle. Visit their website  to learn more.
