Almost A Memory heads back to the studios to begin recording new songs after successful launch of first EP.

Hauppauge-based band Almost A Memory is hitting the studio to begin recording their second EP less than three months after releasing their debut EP “Lessons Learned.”

started work July 17 with producer Tom DeGrazia on their second album “Fere a Memoria.” After 12 long hours in the studio, band members can agree the first track “G.o.T.” is their favorite single to date.

“We’re basically telling the story of us as a band,” said drummer Dan Francis.

“The first EP was about where we started as a band, and this one is talking about how we’ve matured,” said John Gallo, the bass guitar player.

Since Almost A Memory released their first EP “Lessons Learned” in early May, band members said they’ve been surprised and nearly overwhelmed by the positive response. Their EP release concert at Broadway bar in Amityville on May 14 had a sold out crowd.

“I’ll be at work and get kids who come in and say ‘I heard your EP and I love it.’ It’s because our songs tell the story of their lives, not just our own,” Gallo said.

Guitarist Chris Miglorie and Francis said they have both seen surprised by the number of fans showing up at local concerts, averaging 60 to 80 but topping more than 100.

Despite such succes, Almost A Memory plannign to mix things up for its newest songs, as there will be subtle differences between “Lessons Learned” and the new album. Migliore said there will be more intricate guitar lines and more complex drumming rhythms.

“We have not only grown up as a band, but we’ve grown as musicians,” Gallo said.

“You don’t want to stay in one genre, otherwise you limit yourself,” Francis added.

A sneak preview of "G.o.T" revealed tight, yet dynamic music with clear, easy-to-follow lyrics from lead singer/songwriter Vicki Vasapolli. The band released a 15 second preview on YouTube for its fans, and plans to perform the song live for the first time at Webster Hall on Aug. 30 when they open for The Dangerous Summer.

“We haven’t really played New York City as a band yet, I’m excited,” Gallo said.

Francis said the band hasn't set any kind of deadline for releasing second album, although they plan to release six to seven songs. He hopes the second set of songs can be paired with the first EP for a full length album.
