These stores and restaurants opened their doors to welcome in Hauppauge residents in the past year.

For every business that closed in Hauppauge in 2011, it seems nearly two new businesses have opened shop to welcome new customers. The local strip malls saw an influx of new stores, restaurants and eateries despite a relatively weak economy. 

Here are 10 businesses that opened their doors in 2011: 

1. : There was plenty of noise over the opening of All Music's Rock-n-Roll University on Route 111, selling guitars and offering students music lessons. 

2. : This Long-Island based bagel chain opened its third location in Hauppauge off Route 111, taking over the former location of Just The Way You Like It Bagelery. 

3. : One of the many new stores to fill up the Shoprite shopping center in Hauppauge, is a locally run jewelry shop that replaced the former Bunty's Jewelry. 

4. : This popular make-your-own burrito chain opened a store in Hauppauge's Motor Parkway Plaza off Exit 55 to much anticipation. 

5. :  The Kings Park Italian eatery expanded to a second location by taking over the former Sweetwaters spot on Route 111, right off Exit 56 of the Long Island Expressway. 

6. : In December, Commack residents Steve Critelli - a former real estate agent - brought this Florida-based restaurant and bar chain to Hauppauge. 

7. : Red Mango brought frozen yogurt to Hauppauge earlier this year, and has quickly become a popular local hang out spot. 

8. : This franchise of an Elwood-based pizzera chain opened selling personal pizzas. Owners hoped its personal stamp will help it stand out from stiff local competition. 

9. : A local resident hopes to share his passion for beer with the Hauppauge community by opening up a bar that features a custom-crafted 52 tap featuring local microbrews. 

10. : Smithtown resident Carolyn Calvacca said opening this masage and yoga studio in the Atrium Plaza on Route 111

* : The Wobbly Olive became in the Hauppauge Industrial Park, and is making and singing chef.
