Ascent Pharmaceuticals Plans to Expand, Create Jobs

Hauppauge-based drug company purchases building in Central Islip with promise of adding 350 jobs.

A Hauppauge-based prescription drug manufacturing company is planning an expansion that will bring hundreds of jobs to the area.

Costar Realty reports Ascent Pharmaceuticals has purchased a Central Islip building for $14.5 million, or approximately $58 per square foot, formerly occupied by Creative Bath Products. Ascent is looking to use the two-story, 248,000-square-foot building to expand its current facility after renovating it to better fit its needs.

The company is awaiting building permits, but had pledged to bring 350 jobs to the area over the next five years, according to News12.
