CA Technologies to Lay Off 50 Employees

Technology company says the layoffs are a cost-saving measure.

CA Technologies in Islandia announced it will be laying off 50 of its IT employees.

Long Island Business News reports CA employees in its Global Information Services department were warned of the impending layoffs earlier this week. 

CA Technologies spokeswoman Michelle Healy told LIBN the layoffs were a necessary cost-saving measure to reduce salaries and make sure the company stays competitive.

The company reported it will hire the same number of employees, although not necessarily on Long Island, to staff other locations including its India Technology Center. 

CA Technologies announced in , despite rising profits,  as part of the company's ongoing plans to optimize business by reallocating resources from non-strategic areas to growth technologies and regions, and divesting non-strategic areas of the business. It is not clear how many of the 500 jobs were from its Islandia headquarters.
