Chipotle, Hurricane Wings Sign Leases For Motor Parkway Plaza

LEED certified mall brings new restaurants and eateries into the Hauppauge area.

The Motor Parkway Plaza is attracting two new restaurants and a host of smaller eateries to the Hauppauge area.

Chipotle Mexican Grill and Hurricane Grill & Wings have both signed leases with the shopping center, according to Gary Schacker, a principal at United Realty.

Schacker said Chipotle will be opening up a 3,000-square-foot restaurant in the eastern corner of the Motor Parkway Plaza that offers a combination of indoor and seating for approximately 75 customers. The space was originally designed for use by a bank branch, but has been converted for restaurant use.

"Chipotle wanted a patio. The way it was originally designed was as a drive-through for banks. Given the lack of bank activity, we filled the area in and made a patio," he said.

Chipotle Grill did not immediately return requests for comment.

A franchise of the Florida-based restaurant chain Hurricane Grill & Wings has signed a lease for a 4,000 square-foot space near the central area of the Motor Parkway Plaza, Schacker said. Hurricane Wings spokesperson said the chain was looking to open a franchise in the area, but would not confirm the Hauppauge site.
Exit 55 Liquors, FedEx and Ideal Image are open for business in the plaza, with Dunkin Donuts and Subway finishing up renovations to move in.

Schacker said there are three retail offices left to rent, ranging in size from 1,200 to 2,400 square feet, but he has potential tenants for each spot. The plaza has 8,000-square-feet of commercial offices available for rent.

The Motor Parkway Plaza is planning its grand opening for June 30.
