Ciro's Italian Restaurant Takes Over Janine's

Popular Hauppauge eatery undergoes third ownership change in less than two years.

A landmark Hauppauge restaurant has changed hands for the third time in less than two years.

Ciro's Italian Restaurant has taken over the former Janine's Restaurant, on the corner of Route 111 and Rabro Drive. The eatery held its soft grand opening on Memorial Day Weekend. Time will tell if the second location of the Kings Park-based chain will outlive its predecessors.

The spot was once home to the well-known Sweetwaters Bar and Bistro, before it was sold at auction. It then became home to Venue 56, an upscale New American restaurant that folded after 10 months.

John Perrotto, an investor in Venue 56, became sole owner and created Janine's Restaurant in December 2010. The eatery was designed as an affordable American restaurant, its menu trending towards Italian cuisine.

Check Patch later this week for a sitdown interview with the owners of Ciro's Italian Restaurant and a food review.
