A Fairway Market is coming to Suffolk County.

The grocery chain announced this week that its first store in the county will open in Lake Grove next spring in the DSW Plaza at 4000 Middle Country Road.

The 53,000-square-foot store across from the Smith Haven Mall will be the 15th location in the tri-state area for Fairway, which is in the process of a major expansion in which is hopes to open 300 stores across the country.

"We look forward to providing customers a fabulous food shopping experience with fresh, natural, organic and conventional foods at terrific prices," said Herb Ruetsch, the CEO of Fairway Market, of the new store in a press release. "We are also proud to be creating approximately 400 jobs at this location, and eager to make an impact in the Lake Grove and surrounding communities by being both a great food market and an active contributor to the surrounding communities."

Sam Shalem, the chairman and CEO of Prestige Properties, which owns the DSW Plaza, said the shopping center's "customer base is eagerly anticipating a Fairway of its own."

"We have recently begun to renovate and remerchandise this shopping center and we are thrilled to have Fairway as our food anchor," Shalem said.

The first Fairway Market opened in the 1930s and still operates at Broadway and W. 74th Street in Manhattan.
