Globecomm Wins $3.3M Contract, Orbit Receives $1M Contract, CA Named Leader In Software

Globecomm awarded $3.3 million government contract

Globecomm announced Thursday it was awarded a pre-engineered systems contract from a U.S. government agency worth $3.3. million.

The Hauppauge-based provided of satellite-based managed networking solutions said they expected the contract to provide work through the 2011 fiscal year, the order fully completed by June 30, 2011.

"Our government clients continue to leverage Globecomm's Pre-Engineered System product to satisfy their critical mission communication needs. Our track record of delivering quality product and responsive after sales support are key differentiators  that foster growth in our terminal business," said Mike Plourde, vice president of systems products, in a press release statement.

Orbit receives $1 million contract from U.S. Navy

Hauppauge-based defense electronics manufacturer, systems integrator and software solution provider Orbit announced Thursday it had received a $1,050,000 contract for its Console Intercommunication Unit.

The order provides upgrades to all the U.S. Navy fleet by replacing units for all UYQ-21 consoles.  

"Our Orbit Instrument Division began producing and delivering CIUs almost 40 years ago for the U.S. Navy. Over the years we've delivered in excess of 4,000 unites. CIUs have served as an integral part of U.S. Navy ships built with UYQ-21 and certain UYQ-70 combat system consoles as their Naval Tactical Display System," Dennis Sunshine, Orbit's president and CEO said in a press statement.

The company expects to start delivering the order to the Navy in the second quarter of 2011, with complete of the contract by the end of the 2011 fiscal year.

Computer Associates named leader in carbon and energy management software

CA Technologies announced Wednesday it was named a leader in carbon and energy management software by Verdantix, an independent analyst firm focused on sustainable business strategies and market opportunities.

The Islandia-based IT mangement software and solutions company received mention in Verdanix's report "Green Quadrant: Carbon and Energy Management Software, 2010." In the report, Verdanix found CA stood out for its innovative project and portfolio management for its CA ecoSoftware. 

CA's ecoSoftware is a program designed to help organizations reduce their carbon emissions, manage natural resource consumption, cut energy costs and meet environmental goals.

"CA Technologies has emerged as a leader in carbon and energy management software," said Verdantix's CEO David Metcalfe in a statement. "They have the worldwide presence and scale, innovative technology and strategic vision for sustainability which has driven growth in the adoption of CA ecoSoftware by enterprises."
