Hauppauge Manufacturer to Lay Off 47 Workers

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. Shifting jobs to Mexico

47 local workers will be laid off in February when Hauppauge-based Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. closes its Bohemia plant and shifts the jobs to Mexico.

 The company designs and manufactures DC high voltage power supplies for medical, industrial and scientific uses. According to a report on Newsday, the company filed a notice last week with the state Department of Labor saying is would close its Bohemia plan on Feb. 3, laying of 20 workers there and 27 printed circuit board assemblers at their corporate headquarters at 475 Wireless Blvd. In Hauppauge, where it employs 290.
