Hauppauge Sheraton Hotel Sold, Changes Its Name to UPSKY

New hotel management will be pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their dogs.

A Hauppauge hotel on Motor Parkway has been sold, resulting in a change of management for the first time in a decade.

The Smithtown Sheraton, located at 110 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge, was sold on Thursday to a Chinese company, SouFun Holdings Ltd., Newsday reports. It will immediately change the hotel's name to UPSKY Long Island Hotel, an independent brand.

The 209-room hotel has been owned by manager Jeff Durham since 2003. Durham told Newsday the hotel's 120 employees are all expected to remain and UPSKY's plans include renovations throughout the building.

UPSKY Long Island's new website is already up and active, visible here, markets it as a "just 45 minutes outside of Manhattan" and minutes away from the Hauppauge Industrial Park.

The website also provide information on how UPSKY will be one of Long Island's pet-friendly hotels, allowing guests to bring their furry friends along with them. Dogs weighing up to 80 pounds are permitted for a charge of $50 per stay, but no other pets are allowed.
