Hong Market in Need of a Fresh Start [Empty in Nesconset]

Former store on the corner of Smithtown Boulevard and Chestnut Street has been boarded up and abandoned for years.

A boarded up market on the corner of Smithtown Boulevard and Chestnut Street in Nesconset lies abandoned, its broken concrete yard a stark constrast to its surroundings.

A 5-foot fence cuts off the former Hong Market from its surrounding commercial businesses and residential homes. Aged wooden boards cover the windows and doors with rusted metal fixtures give the building a shabby appearance.

The former Hong Market in Nesconset is an abandoned commercial property that is quickly gaining attention - for all the wrong reasons. Town of Smithtown officials added the parcel to its in June 2011.
