LoPiccolo's Pizzeria & Ristorante Plans to Expand

Hauppauge pizzeria will close for four days next week as it expands to take over former Quiznos storefront.

A family-owned Hauppauge pizzeria is under construction as it expand to take over a neighboring storefront.

Construction workers were hard at work outside LoPiccolo's Pizzeria & Ristorante Thursday afternoon sanding a new wood storefront and putting up trim in preparation for the restaurant's expansion.

A construction foreman confirmed that LoPiccolo's will be expanding to take over the former Quiznos storefront in the Pine Groves Shopping Center on Route 347/Nesconset Highway in Hauppauge.

Pizzeria employees, who declined to be identified, said the expansion will give the restaurant more tables and a brand new party room to cater to private events.

Construction workers reported that the pizzeria will need to temporarily close, likely from Monday to Thursday of next week, so the wall between it's existing space and the adjacent one can be safely knocked down.

Restaurant owners Rhandi and Benny LoPiccolo could not be immediately reached for comment on Thursday afternoon.

The last pizza I bought there was horrible. Not only that , I was overcharged by $2.00 . Not the first time . I will not be going back .Many other pizzerias in area. Not that they really care .

Great! LoPiccolo's makes great pizza and does great catering. Oh and did I mention the great service?

The funny thing is, Pine Groves shopping center looks like it is stuck in 1976. NOt my money, but I wonder why the property owners wouldn't want to invest a little money into curb appeal.

The pizza's so-so, but they're notable for offering more unique Southern Italian foods to go.

I love the LoPiccolos and the service is outstanding

Christopher , It was good in the beginning, now it is run of the mill .I gave it more then one more chance, thinking it's a bad day. No change. There are many pizzeria/restaurants in area that are better. Besides that , I am the customer,If you keep overcharging & have employees that are clueless on prices , you will lose customers . None the less, I wish you well .

I was in shopping center a few days ago. Cesspools are smelling again . An ongoing problem . @swataz,they center has changed hands so many times over the yrs. I guess the owners only want to collect rent , cam charges, do as little as they have to. I know a few tenants, tell me rent there is very high,

And the pawn shop and club with funny hours and odd way that place is run. Seems like its a shadow for illegal activity if you ask me......low class shopping center that brings down the neighborhood.

I am glad they are expanding. They are hard working people who put out excellent product
John Robertson April 15, 2012 at 12:14 PM
VT. I do not believe this comment opportunity is meant for mean people.Maybe I am wrong.
VT April 15, 2012 at 03:37 PM
It's not "mean" it's my experience . I agree with Cindy and Kathy . Are they also being "mean" .? It's their experiences and opinions. I went back thinking "bad day". The last time pizza was so, so , so bad , we threw it out. I called and got this bad very bad arritude. Like I stated earlier, other places around . Mr Robertson, we are all entilted to our opinions , good or bad.

I wish you well as well VT, it's always a pleasure hearing your perspective.

I have to agree with some of the previous posts. The pizza is so so, not anything to write home about. My husband and I had dinner one night there and it wasn't that great either. There are other places in the area that have much better food.
VT April 16, 2012 at 08:16 PM
@ Transplanted .. there are several places . I cannot say here,, but I am sure you know .
Cindy April 17, 2012 at 05:20 PM
I have heard (not sure of the accuracy) that the pawn shop is owned by the property landlord.

Get a freakin life VT! All you do is complain about everything. You never have anything nice to say about anything or anyone. Maybe the employees arent clueless, maybe its you!

I was in shopping center last week and there is a sign in window of LoPiccolos (the empty store they were expanding to) that reads "Under new ownership " .Pizza boxes are piled up in the window of the original store......
RC May 11, 2012 at 02:49 PM
Lo Piccolos has left the room .They were being evicted, so the cleaned out store in the early morning hours when no one was around and skipped town, Took everything inside the store,
AM May 24, 2012 at 02:23 PM
I really wonder where people get their information from or if they just like making things up on their own. Lopiccolo's was sold to a new owner. No one was being evicted and you could see through the windows that everything in the store was still there and sold to the new owner. There's no need to "clean out the store and skip town" if your making a profit on an investment. Good luck to them on their future endeavors and good luck to the new owners as well!!
swataz June 01, 2012 at 04:04 PM
Really, where the hell did that evicted comment come from?
Candyee June 02, 2012 at 03:07 PM

I'm so happy to hear such positive reviews! I look forward to eating there soon!
Candyee July 13, 2012 at 04:21 AM
The place is beautiful,, I love the city style thin ,crisp Neapolitian pizza., they make .3 owners, I met husband and wife , Jill and Adam. A nice , young couple. I know the food business is tough, being in it in the 80's. I wished them the best of luck.I hope they do well...
