Luso to Take Over Former Sertinos Cafe Location

Luso's owner says the move should be complete by March.

Needing more space to cater to a rapidly expanding clientele has forced Luso Restaurant to move west on Main Street into a the recently vacated home of another popular Smithtown eatery – Sertinos Cafe.

Luisa Batista, owner of Luso Restaurant, an eatery that specializes in authentic Portuguese wood-char barbecue, said that she is confident her restaurant will do well in the 133 West Main Street location despite having two restaurants close there – Sertinos Cafe and Sizzler.

"We've got to take chances in life," she said. "I guess I'm going to do good over there because I have a good reputation, I've been in this business for almost 30 years and I've always been successful ... it's a good location and I'm going to make it work over there."

Angrytaxpayer... ask the 'town officials' why they feel the need to make it difficult for some restaurants to add tables and chairs outside of the restaurant.... Smithtown has a lot of rules and regulations. Maybe that's why we have such a nice little town.... but they do make it very difficult at times

Ken, You're broke and cannot afford luso. You actually called ihop an upscale dining establishment. You are the town bum, trolling against a wonderful, local owned business in favor of a corporately owned ihop? What kind of moron are you? Just because you cannot afford to dine at Luso doesnt mean others cant. While Luso has done a fantastic job embracing the community with delicious food, all you have done is sat here complaining. Go back to the government assistance line and get your welfare check.

Bob, the last comment regarding Luzo was made over two weeks ago on March 29. How can youwrite such a passionate , angry letter regarding old news concerning the location of a restaurant ? You remind me of Jack Klugman on the old TV series Qiuincy MEwho took passionate stands on everything. If watching a midle aged guy aegue about everything and anything, then Quincy is right up your alley. Now that Jack Klugman has passed on, you would be an excellent choice for Quincy, should the folks in La La Land every decide to bring it back. But then again, you probably have an argument for this suggestion already. Maybe Charlie Sheen's role on Anger Management but...NAH. It would just inspire another pointless argument.
