MVP Fitness To Replace Innovative Fitness

New owners to take over, renovate gym on Commerce Drive in Hauppauge Industrial Park.

New owners plan to whip a longstanding health club in Hauppauge Industrial Park into shape.

MVP Fitness will open its doors replacing the former Innovative Fitness on Commerce Drive late this summer. Partners Krissy Mercardante and Keith Ginsberg said they wanted to make a gym that caters to everyone.

“I needed to do something different,” Mercardante said, who previously worked as a pharmacist. “I’ve been training with Keith for a couple of years. I love working with people. I love working out and keeping fit.”

The idea to build their own gym came up during one of the pair's personal training sessions.

“We were talking about what was missing in certain gyms,” Ginsberg said.

Together, the co-owners have spent more than a year researching, planning and looking at other fitness facilities before moving forward with building MVP Fitness.

Ginsberg said he believes what will set MVP apart from other gyms in the area will be a very personable atmosphere.

“Any type of person will feel comfortable at our gym,” he said. “Whether you’re a housewife or an athlete, or someone working out for the first time.”

Ginsberg works as a high school soccer coach and personal trainer who has managed different gyms across Long Island for the past 12 years. The idea of owning a gym has always appealed to him.

“We have the ability to put our style or our brand on it,” he said. “Whether it’s the color schemes or the music that’s playing, we will have full control over it. The gym is contemporary and modern with an athletic feel.”

The co-owners strongly believe everyone should make exercise a part of their daily routine.

“They should work out to give themselves a healthier lifestyle,” Ginsberg said. “Whether their goal is to lose weight or put on muscle. It’s good for your sanity, and your brain as well as your joints.”

MVP is tentatively scheduled to open in the late summer.
