New Bagel Cafe Moving Into Wheeler Shopping Plaza

A new bagel cafe is preparing to open in Hauppauge's Wheeler Shopping Plaza.

Brendel's Bagels & Eatery has started reconstructing the former Just The Way You Like it Bagelery and Eatery on Route 111. A large yellow-and-red sign announced its arrival, while instructing local residents seeking possible employment to call 1-866-Catering.

Brendel's Bagels has two other Long Island locations, one on Route 110 in Huntington and the other in Westbury's Century 21 Shopping Center. The eatery serves bagels, flagels, baked goods, breakfast wraps and omelette. For the afternoon crowd, Brendel's offers lunch wraps, signature panini, salads and more.

Brendel's Bagels owners did not immediately respond to calls for comment.

The promised arrival of Brendel's Bagels brings life back into the Wheeler Shopping Center, which has been nearly half vacant for four months.

Theand Eatery closed in February, taking many residents by surprise. It's closure came shortly after Top Shelf Wine & Liquor has moved across town, moving south on Route 111 next to Branchinelli's.
