New Medical Building Proposed for Terry Road

Third building to be proposed and constructed off intersection within the past year.

A proposal for a new medical office building off Terry Road could be the third building to be constructed in the area in less than a year.

The Galleria Corp, a Hauppauge-based business, has submitted plans to build a 11,817-square-foot medical building off the intersection of Terry Road and Route 347 in Smithtown. It would be setback behind the existing Walgreen's pharmacy.

The new medical office building would become one of the largest buildings off the intersection, only slightly smaller than Walgreen's that measures 14,729 square feet.

For construction to move forward, Galleria needs Town of Smithtown's Board of Zoning Appeals to approve a variance that would allow their parking lot to set back 44 feet rom the nearby residents, rather than standard 100 feet.

The construction of the new medical office building would require reconfiguration of the existing parking spaces and flow in and out of the shopping center.

If it is approved, the new medical office building would become the third building to be constructed off the Terry Road and Route 347 intersection over the past year.

First, a 7-Eleven was built on the northwest corner of Terry Road and Route 347 over summer 2012 and it is now open to the public. A bank is currently being build on the southwest corner.
