New Owners Transforms Eagle's Pub into Pub 347

Local bar gets facelift with a new focus on drinks, sports games, live music and entertainment.

A longtime Hauppauge locals' watering hole has gotten a facelift and gained new direction under new ownership.

The Eagle's Pub has been transformed into a sleeker, modern Pub 347 that aims to renew the community pub atmosphere with by offering sports games, live music and more.

Former Hauppauge resident Todd Feldman, now living in Port Jefferson, with his nephew and partner Joe Roccanova are bringing new life into the longstanding pub. Feldman worked as a bartender in the 1970s and now works security at various bars across Long Island fell in love with the former Eagle's Pub location.

"It has the old time pub feeling where you can go in, play pool and listen to music," he said. "It's not a dance club packed wall-to-wall with people dancing all over the place."

The keys were turned over to the new owners on Feb. 1, who gave it a whirlwind renovation. The trademark striped wallpaper was torn down and painted a warm, brick red color while the bar top was replaced and floor was refinished.

"We worked 24/7 on this. My painter got here at 8 a.m. and worked through till 2 a.m.," Feldman said.

In getting rid of the blue, gold and white Eagle's Pub sign, the business owners donated it to Hauppauge High School in hopes the school district would be able to find a way to reuse the eagle for their own uses.

Pub 347 managed to open its doors for Superbowl Sunday, but is starting to make changes that differentiate it from its former life by adding more televisions, running game day specials of the hottest sports, and bringing in its first live musical performances.

On Friday, Feldman promised live music with an extended happy hour 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. featuring $2 pints, $6 pitchers and select $3 shots  to a free buffet and music.

Look for more changes to come, as Feldman said they are considering decorating part of Pub 347 in a historic Hauppauge/Smithtown theme focusing on the local area.

Pub 347 is located at 532 Smithtown Bypass in Smithtown at the intersection of Route 347 and Route 111. To learn more, visit their Facebook page
