Lake Grove will be home to a new medical walk-in center by mid November, Patch has learned.
The Premier Urgent Care Center plans to open up at 1995 Route 347, next to Fortunoff and Chase Bank.
Premier Care operates 365 day a year, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, along with special hours on some holidays. A spokesperson said a Premier clinic typically has 40 to 50 patients no a daily basis and no appointments are necessary.
The medical practice provider operates several such clinics across Long Island. Its most recent clinic opening was in Great Neck and it also plans to open a West Islip location by year’s end.
According to Premier Care, its centers offer an alternative to an emergency room and are staffed with board-certified doctors specializing in emergency medicine. Centers provide digital x-ray, laboratory testing of various illnesses such as strep throat and the flu, and the equipment for treating common orthopedic injuries and wounds needing stitches.
“Our emergency physicians see patients of all ages from babies to seniors in a safe, confidential, and competent environment. Premier Care refers patients back to their primary doctors to maintain the same level of care,” states the company’s website.
