Next Chapter for Former Nesconset Library [Empty in Nesconset]

Former Nesconset library space in Smithtown Boulevard shopping center is now up for rent.

The former site of the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Special Library District is waiting for a savvy business owner to write the next chapter of its future.

Despite the Nesconset library moving across Smithtown Boulevard into, black-and-white signs still mark its former site among the nearby commercial storefronts in the Nesconset Shopping Center. A metal chute marks the old book return, abandoned and unused.

The former library had a prime spot within the shopping center, anchoring the neighborhood stores. The 5,500-square-foot space may need renovations to host a new business, but it's ideally situated across from the Nesconset gazebo that serves as a community gathering spot from spring to fall.

Phone calls made to the property's owner to discuss potential uses for the storefront were not returned.
