Curtains Still Closed in Vacant Marburn Warehouse [Empty in Hauppauge]

While there is no new store to occupy the storefront as of yet, it didn't stop locals from stating what they'd like to see there.

When Marburn Curtain Warehouse closed the doors in earlier this year of its 381 Smithtown Bypass in Hauppauge location, it left some locals upset.

"I was dismayed to see that Marburn Curtain Warehouse in Hauppauge has closed ... It seemed like they had been doing pretty good business for several years," said Patch reader Christine Bridges via email.

It also left people wondering what would take its place, and giving opinions on what they'd like to see fill the vacancy.

Frank Amato, owner of Amato's Pizza just two doors down from the now closed Marburn, said he'd like to see a hardware or an auto parts store take its place.

But Amato might not get his wish.

There has been chatter as of late that Long Island Beauty School, which is currently located behind the former curtain store at 544 Wheeler Road, would take much of the space, with a barber shop occupying the rest of the storefront. While rumors are swirling about this, a representative from the school said no lease on the Marburn location has been signed, but said if they were to move it would not occupy the entire former Marburn storefront.

What would you like to see take Marburn's place?
