No Race to Fill OTB Storefront [Empty in Hauppauge]

Former OTB storefront in Hauppauge Center stands vacant on the corner of Route 347 and 111. What would you like to see here?

Despite a prominent location, there's no one racing to lease the former OffTrack Betting storefront in Haupauge on the corner of Route 347 and 111.

The Suffolk Regional OTB site was closed  before the company filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy in March. The company closed many of its 11 facilities after falling two to three months behind in paying out tracks, when its operational procedures call for settling bills within 30 days.

The company has kept its other Hauppauge location, , on Motor Parkway open for business throughout the bankruptcy proceedings.

A few signs are posted in the abandoned storefront that read "Store for Rent" listing 631-724-5200 as a phone number to call. However, calls to the number listed were not returned.

Did you visit the store when it was Off-Track Betting? Or were you concerned about the kind of customers it would draw to the area?
