North Shore Report: Big Week for Local Biz

Talbot's will leave, LA Fitness moves in and a few photographers take over a historic general store.

Store openings and closings were a common theme across the north shore of Suffolk County this week. Let's take a look at a few of the headlines.

The good news is much of the clothing at the in Commack's Mayfair Shopping Center is deeply discounted. The bad news, the sale will end with another vacant storefront in the area.

Talbot's, known for its conservative women's clothing, is closing 25 stores nationwide deemed underperforming, which is only the latest wave of closings for the troubled retailer. Talbot's shuttered 83 stores last year.

Meanwhile, The Barn along Smithtown's Main Street will likely close up shop after it shuts down for renovations in a few weeks, the owner told Patch. Staples Coming Soon Signs are up so the Store in Bally's Shopping Center will probably move again into the bigger location I doubt Staples would keep both stores open since they are so close maybe convert current location into a Staples Express like in NYC but I doubt that you'll see that. Most likely just another move for that store
