Old Navy Opens Its Lake Grove Store

New flagship storefront opens next to Trader Joe's on Route 347.

Old Navy is opening up its doors on Route 347 in Lake Grove for business, creating local jobs.

The new flagship storefront has been under construction since June, when the company ripped the former Toys 'R' Us store building down to the studs to rebuild. Old Navy moves in alongside Trader Joe's, which opened in December, revitalizing the half-empty strip mall.

"I'm really excited. I think it’s a great shopping center and there’s a lot of opportunity in there," said Arlene Sack, an Old Navy manager.

Sack said this is the first time Old Navy has opened a store in the Lake Grove area, moving closer to Smith Haven Mall.

The corporation will be closing its existing store in Selden's Independent Plaza on Route 25 to move to Lake Grove. The Selden staff was given the option of transferring to the new store.

Sack said in addition to the Selden staff, Old Navy will be hiring additional staff to work at the Lake Grove store.

A grand opening celebration will be held on Saturday, with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Old Navy has pledged that 5 percent of all weekend sales will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
