Islandia-based construction firm accepts award from Long Island Business News.

An Islandia-based construction company accepted top honors from Long Island Business News within recent weeks. 

Stalco Construction was named the 2012 Commercial Builder of the Year by Long Island Business News at its annual Real Estate and Development Awards Dinner. 

"We are honored by the recognition as a leading builder of commercial and institutional projects on Long Island and in the Greater New York area," said Stalco Principal Kevin Harney, as he accepted the award. "The Long Island real estate, building and design industries lead the nation in acumen, creativity and sustainable design practices. We are proud to join our other honorees and representatives of the leading regional and national development, brokerage, architectural and engineering firms during tonight's event."

Stalco Construction was established by Harney and Alan Nahmias in 1992. In 2011, Building Design & Construction  magazine ranked it as the 75th largest contractor in the nation. The value of Stalco's ongoing construction projects is approximately $120 million. 

Local examples of Stalco's work include office renovations at CA Technologies headquarters in Islandia and Florence Building Supply warehousing facility in Huntington.
